Read chapter 1 of your book (pages 1-9)
From pages 10-11, do exercises 1, 3, 9, 10, 13, 14
Review the Student Survey Data and make 2-3 observations. Try to find some interesting nuances in the data (__% of liberal students have ____, compared to ___% of conservative students, for example). To make this easier, I recommend you Make A Copy of the data to your own drive account:
- Click File
- Click “Make A Copy”
- Rename the file and save it in your drive.
Then, you can highlight the data set and use the Data -> Sort Range command to sort the rows in helpful ways.
Finally, if you’d like to know more about how Target uses data to make predictions about its shoppers, check out this article from the Winter, 2012 edition of New York Times Magazine (it’s where I got my story about the father and his pregnant daughter).
